Every muscle in her lithe body trembled. Every fiber, sinew, and cell that made up her being quivered. Partly from the exertion she had just put forth... But mostly from fear. Fear of what she had just done. The disproportioned knife remained embedded in the soft brown earth barely a step away from her. Her knife. The soldiers corpses littered the same ground, perforating the air with the pungent scent of their iron laced blood. Her kills. She raised her shaking hands up into her line of sight. Her hands... She didn't know why she had expected anything other than the ruddy color of drying blood on them. No. Expected is the wrong word... Hoped perhaps? Her fists reflexively clenched tight at the fresh memories. As did her eyes. She didn't know this world. She didn't know why she was attacked. She didn't know where the knife came from. But she knew for certain that something had changed inside her. She wasn't sure what it was but a teenage schoolgirl doesn't just pick up a weapon and wield it like she did. With grace, precision, and power. Oh god the power. One soldier in particular got a good taste of it. His entire front chest plate caved in by one of her punishing blows, effectively crushing his heart and lungs. She sniffs, wipes away stray tears on her forearm, and takes a steadying breath. It would be so easy to let it go right now. To start weeping again. To be sick all over herself. To give up. Her surroundings certainly weren't making her internal plight any easier. But she recognized the fact that if she started now she wouldn't be able to stop again. So, willing herself to a standing position, she grips the giant knife and tugs it free of its earthen sheath. She turned and faced the road ahead. No idea of where she was, how she had gotten here, or where she was going. But something inside of her told her to keep going. Probably whatever had given her the ability to disembowel those soldiers with such ease. Whatever it was, she didn't have time to dwell on it. The process of starting her journey to nowhere was taking every ounce of concentration she could muster. The girl stares silently at the ground and thinks. "......... Come on...... It's not a big deal..... Just one step... Don't worry about the rest of it.... Just... One... Step..." And she did. Suddenly the next step didn't seem quite as hard.
